A 12-year-old boy has died after he was swept away by a flash flood at Tanoso in the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The deceased, Emmanuel Opoku, according to eyewitnesses, was swept away by running water when he went out to play with his friends in the rain on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.

The Assembly member for the Tanoso Electoral Area, Aaron Nandie, said in an interview with OTEC News reporter Jacob Agyenim Boateng that the boy fell into a gutter while playing in the river on that fateful day.

He revealed that the brother of the deceased was also severely injured after he attempted to save his brother.

He said the boy had been treated and discharged after he was admitted to the hospital, while the body of the deceased had been deposited at a morgue by the police.
