Boy, 9, drops out of school over cancer
Mustapha Ahmed, a nine -year-old boy, has dropped out of school over cancer which has left one of his eyes blind.
According to the boy, the condition started two years ago. The family, he said, has spent all their resources on his treatment but to no avail.
“This condition has shuttered my dream of becoming a bank manager in future and I always feel sad when I see my colleagues going to school while I stay at home,” he narrated in an interview with Adom News.
The boy’s father, Adams Awuni, who recounted the resources that had been committed to Mustapha’s sickness, said the family has now gone bankrupt because they pay GH¢ 1,000 for each medical session.
“I don’t understand why such sickness will attack a son of a poor farmer like me,” he said in an interview with Adom News.
The family is, thus, appealing to the government and well-meaning Ghanaians to support Mustapha to enable him undergo his cancer operation at the Korle- Bu Teaching Hospital.
