Wenchi youth burn down prominent chief house over Adamu soldier’s death

Angry residents of Wenchi in the Bono Region have burnt down the home of a prominent sub-chief in the area, Nana Ampoforo Senebour over allegations he is linked to the gruesome murder of Adamu Wahab popularly known as Adamu Soldier.

The angry youth did not also spare the washing bay of the Awerempem Heneof the Wenchi Tradiotional Area they accused of masterminding the gruesome murder of the deceased.

In the ensuing melee, they vandalized the home of the chief after which it was set on fire while a number of them destroyed everything, they sighted in front of the house in protest against the killing of Adamu Soldier on his farm last Monday.

The Chief and his family who had wind the youth were storming the house, fled earlier before the attack which saw properties destroyed running into several thousands of cedis.

It took the intervention personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to douse the fire that had been set by the rampaging youth in the area.

Meanwhile, the Wenchi Municipal Police Commander DSP Eric Awudzivi has revealed that two suspects have so far been picked over the death of Adamu Wahab Popularly known as Adamu Soldier while the third is on the run

Wenchi Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) who is also the Chairman of the Municipal Security Committee,  Dr. Prince Kwakye Afiriyie has however commended the leadership of the Islamic community and the chiefs of Wenchi Zango for restoring calm to Wenchi.

He assured the family that the security will do their best to bring the perpetrators of the killing of Adamu Soldier to book.

“Anyone who has information about the death of Adamu Soldier should inform the police and not take the law into his or her own hands” the MCE urged indicating that the police will soon go after those who have burnt the residence and washing bay of the sub-chief
