Police provide details on murder incident at Ashaiman
The Ghana Police Service has issued a statement on the murder of a 47-year-old man at Ashaiman, a suburb of the Greater Accra Region.
In a statement dated Friday, February 16, 2024, the police confirmed the commencement of an investigation into the murder of Eric Baidoo who was allegedly stabbed by assailants on Thursday.
“The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of a 47-year-old male adult at Ashaiman in the Greater Accra Region.
“The deceased, identified as Eric Baidoo, a trader was allegedly stabbed by an assailant currently on the run, on Thursday 15th February 2024.
“The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy,” the police said.
According to the police, a delegation led by the Tema Regional Commander has visited the family of the deceased to commiserate with them over their bereavement and assure the family of a thorough investigation to bring the perpetrators to book.
“Meanwhile, an intelligence-led operation is underway to get the perpetrator(s) arrested to face justice,” the statement added.
Earlier reports surrounding the murder indicated that the deceased was a soldier.
However, the report which kept residents of Ashaiman on edge has been confirmed to be false.
