I’m only resting at UGMC – Health Minister denies COVID-19 reports
Ghana’s Health Minister, Kwaku Agyeman Manu has denied media reports that he has contracted the novel coronavirus disease, COVID-19, insisting that he is merely taking his diabetes medication and taking much-needed rest.
According to Broadcast Journalist with Despite Media Afia Pokuaa, the Minister informed her through a phone call that he has not tested positive for the virus as reported by the media.
Afia Pokuaa wrote on her Facebook Page “Spoke to the minister of health. He says he’s fine and doesn’t have COVID but only needed rest and his usual medication”
Citi FM’s Umaru Sanda Amadu broke the story on the minister’s COVID-19 status earlier today, adding that he was receiving medical attention at the University of Ghana Medical Centre(UGMC).
The report has generated much discussion on social media on his medical condition, attracting both commiseration and criticism( on his handling of the pandemic).
But Afia Pokuaa after reaching out to the Minister via phone has also written on social media that he denied having the devastating disease.
