I’m Ghana’s best since 2000 – Kwadwo Poku ‘Mahala’ brags

Former King Faisal and Asante Kotoko goal poacher Kwadwo Poku, affectionately known as Mahala has declared himself as the best Ghanaian striker since 2000.

The pacy striker who had exciting spells in the Ghana Premier League for both Kotoko and King Faisal believes he is a more complete package as a forward when compared to strikers during his time and in recent times.

“During my era, I played alongside Osei Kuffour, Ibrahim Tanko and Isaac Boakye. I was a complete package of a forward not a ‘standing fan striker’ because I was able to dribble, pass, shoot and tricky as well. The only thing I lacked was aerial ability.” He told Silver FM in Kumasi.

Mahala also explained why he thinks he’s better than Ghana’s all-time top scorer Asamoah Gyan.

“I was deputised by Shaibu Yakubu during my reign. Asamoah Gyan was the third striker by then.”

He also attributed luck as the reason he didn’t play for the Black Stars during his era.

“Most players earn call up to the Black Stars because of luck. I think I wasn’t lucky” he noted.
