Issues related to PEACE and SECURITY at Asokore Mampong Municipality appears to be at the lowest strata of the assembly’s attention, THE PRESS RADIO has learnt.
It emerged during the holding of Ideanomics 5.0 (Youth Summit) under NBU Project that the assembly’s efforts towards tightening security and peace in the area has been abysmal since most residents are still living in fear and panic.
Issues of inadequate street lightning system has offered a platform for robbery and criminal attacks  during night hours at several areas within the municipality with Serwaaba been the hardest hit.
The absence of community watch dogs and street lights especially at Serwaaba a community within Adeyenase electoral area ” has magnified the rate of crime committed during night hours”, Malick Mohammed, a Unit Committee member of the electoral area disclosed to THE PRESS RADIO during the summit.
Speaking in an exclusive interview, Malick Mohammed, an attendee of Ideanomics 5.0 event made it clear that since the collapse of the community  watch dog of the electoral area, the assembly has failed to resurrect it till now. The collapse according to him was as a result of the fact that most volunteers were discouraged along the line because they were not resourced with the needed logistics for effective execution of their role.
“All the members of the watch dog group exited because they were not given uniforms, arms and financial allowance” he indicated. “This is what led to the collapse of the group at Serwaaba” he added.
Some attendees during the event spoke to this medium in strict anonymity, saying that though the assembly is coming out with much efforts, they are still not impressed with their(assembly) delivery on security.
They are therefore calling on the assembly to address the situation.
Ideanomics 5.0 (Youth Summit) was held at NBU’s hub at Asokore Mampong. It was organised in collaboration with the Network of Empowered Youth for Development (NEYOD).
During the event, participants played the role of ambassadors and delegates, made solutions and prepared draft resolutions  all in the interest of a youth declaration to resolve the problems that affect the municipality.
