A hunter identified as Yaw Kwakye has allegedly been shot dead at Nweneso no 1 in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region.
The shock of the incident has left colleague hunters and residents of the area shocked and coy about their future in the trade.
However, some residents who spoke to MyNewsGh.com suspect friends of the deceased shot him.
The Assemblymember for Nweneso no 1 electoral area Kwame Atenka who broke the news of the unfortunate incident in an interview with Pure Fm’s Osei Kwadwo said “We heard a gunshot in a bush but when we went there we found the lifeless body of Yaw Kwakye. Yaw Kwakye was a palm wine tapper, farmer and hunter. He went to his friends to collect his equipment in a bush but what we heard was a gunshot”.
He added that “Now we don’t know whether he was shot dead by his friends or he shot himself”.
Meanwhile, The Police in Foase Police have arrested two persons to assist the police in their investigations whiles the body has been deposited at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital morgue for autopsy.
