President Nana Akufo-Addo has said his government and the security agencies are doing everything possible to rescue the three young women believed to have been kidnapped in Takoradi between August and December last year.

Speaking on the matter on the second day of his tour of the Western Region, the President assured the people of the area that the state and the security agencies are working vigorously to find the girls and reunite them with their families.

“All efforts are being made to bring back the girls. The fact that not much information has been out in the public domain does not imply that the state or security agencies are not working hard to ensure their safe return to their families,” the President said.

The girls are Ruthlove Quayson, Priscilla Blessing Bentum and Priscilla Koranchie.

Their families, friends and citizens of the region have held several demonstrations in connection with the failure of the state to trace and rescue the girls.

A few months ago, the Director-General of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service, COP Maame Tiwaa Addo Danquah told journalists at a media briefing that the security agencies had traced the whereabouts of the girls and were zeroing in on rescuing them.

She later made a U-turn a month after that comment, claiming she only said so to give hope to the police in finding the young women.
