Today’s [Wednesday] sitting in Parliament will resume later this afternoon after a power outage and a decision to visit the family of the late NDC former Chairman, Dr. Kwabena Adjei led to a suspension of sitting.

Dr. Adjei passed away on Tuesday morning at the Ridge Hospital in Accra.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has declared three days of mourning for Dr. Adjei.

What will take place in Parliament today?

The Finance Minister is scheduled to appear to answer questions on the takeover of UT and Capital Banks by GCB Bank.

Citi News sources can also confirm that Parliament will today [Wednesday] consider the 2 billion cedi sovereign guarantee arrangement for the Ghana Amalgamated Trust (GAT).

Power outage

A number of Ghanaians in parts of the country were without electricity on Tuesday evening.

Some people took to social media to express their disappointment over the issue.

This occurred weeks after PDS took over the management of Ghana’s electricity distribution sector.

The takeover took place in February 2019.

PDS is expected to turnaround the operations of ECG to make it profitable.

In addition, the new management is expected to improve access to electricity while cutting down on waste in the system to block all leakages that drain the financials of ECG.
