Bishop Daniel Obinim, the founder and leader of International God’s Way Church has denied reports making rounds on social media that he has been arrested by the police.

As earlier reported police personnel stormed Obinim’s church in Accra on Thursday, May 14, 2020, while he was having a counseling session.

The police are reported to have duly informed Obinim that they had a warrant to arrest him to go and answer a few questions. Upon hearing of the arrest warrant, Obinim asked to go inside his office and he returned to inform the police that he was not well.

According to reports, Obinim nearly collapsed and had to be rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment as the police waited around.

But in a statement released on Friday, May 15, 2020, Obinim indicated that he was not arrested by only invited by the police.

The statement signed by Obinim’s special aide, Richard Jackson, further stated that though Obinm’s lawyers had to represent him at the police headquarters it was not because he was rushed to the hospital as reported.

According to him, Obinim had a scheduled medical appointment which had been advised by his doctors and it coincided with the police invitation.

“Under no circumstance should anyone lie to you Angel Obinim has been rushed to the hospital.

I urged the public to disregard all such rumors as there is no truth in it that he has being arrested by Ghana Police,” the statement partly read.

Currently, the statement added: “Angel Obinim was in the house doing fine, he hasn’t been arrested nor kept behind bars so throw away that fake news making rounds.
