NaBCO recruits begin work today
Some 49,642 out of the 54,481 successful applicants for the Nation Builders Corps (NABCo) are expected to begin work today, Thursday, 1 November 2018.
They have been put in the Civic Ghana, Revenue Ghana, Educate Ghana, Enterprise Ghana and Digitise Ghana modules of the programme.
In all, 100,000 people are to be enroled onto the programme for the first year.
The recruits will be receiving a monthly stipend of GHS 700.
On Tuesday, May 1, this year, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo launched the NaBCo in Kumasi as an initiative by the government to provide employment for 100,000 unemployed graduates this year.
Nana Akufo-Addo expressed optimism that NaBCO, will flourish to shame the “cynics and pessimists”.
According to him, with this initiative, the country has been set on the path of growth and prosperity.
“With NaBCO, we have planted the seeds for the growth of our country. I am in no doubt whatsoever that NaBCO will succeed,” he said on Wednesday, 17 October 2018 during the passing out of over 100,000 NaBCO recruits at a ceremony in Accra.
He added: “…Nonetheless, the scheme has well-constructed and clearly defined exit routes. Our public services and institutions, having benefited from the services of NaBCo trainees over the three-year period, will naturally have opportunities that will allow the retention of trainees who will justify their value.”
