How ACP Kofi Sarpong reacted to news of him being appointed as IGP in future
Renowned gospel artiste, ACP Kofi Sarpong, has responded to news purporting to claim that he could become an Inspector General of Police (IGP) in Ghana in the future.
In his response, he noted that he is not obsessed with the position at the moment. However, he is focused on serving the incumbent IGP, George Akuffo Addo Dampare, to make the police service better.
ACP Sarpong also indicated that he has two more ranks to occupy thus; Deputy Commissioners of Police (DCOP) and Commissioners of Police (COP) before he can be eligible to be appointed as an IGP.
Speaking in an interview with Joyprime TV which was monitored by GhanaWeb, ACP Sarpong asserted that he will be delighted to occupy the highest position in the police service when the opportunity comes.
This is what ensued during the conversation between ACP Sarpong and the host of the show, Kpekpo Maxwell Jackson.
Kpekpo Maxwell Jackson:You’re ACP now. It means you’re getting closer and closer to IGP. Is that what it is?
ACP Kofi Sarpong: When you get to COP, all the commissioners can be appointed as IGP. Right now, I have two more steps to get to that level: DCOP, then COP.
Kpekpo Maxwell Jackson:: I would like to see you as an IGP in this country one day. You will be a good leader.
ACP Kofi Sarpong: Well, that will be great but for now I am serving my IGP [Dampare] he is doing incredible work.
