There has been a wide condemnation and public anger over the execution of the highly touted Agric sector support initiative aimed at ensuring all year round farming and watering of animals in the Northern part of Ghana.

Out of a total of 140 dams allocated to the Upper East region, only 40 have been constructed with some at various stages of completion with each dam estimated to cost Two hundred and Forty Thousand Ghana cedis (GH¢240,000)

In a rather interesting twist, the Chief of Dachio, Naba Akaliga II could not hold his anger at the dam constructed in his area.

In an interview with Bolgatanga based A1 Radio monitored by MyNewsGh.com, Naba Akaliga II said “Its only for children to be playing football but not a dam. It is a piece of football park that has been constructed because the depth of the dam…you don’t know where it is. So in fact, it is not a dam. If they can make their own correction for it to be called a dam, it is left unto them. But this one is not a dam”.

Some residents who spoke to the reporter Joshua Asaah and monitored by MyNewsGh.com say they do not understand how a dam could be constructed in four days as they saw in their community.
