EC announces reopening of voters’ registration as court throws out NDC
The Electoral Commission of Ghana has announced that it will today October 1 reopen another window for persons who could not register in the earlier to register for the voters’ ID card.
The National Democratic Congress (NDC) earlier sued the Electoral Commission and the Attorney General and sought to for a cancellation of the exercise until the EC had gone through the right channel in opening another window for registration.
However, the Court dismissed the party’s suit indicating that the NDC should have filed the suit on notice so that the EC could have been served.
Due to the current development, the EC has announced that the exercise will take place at the various offices across the country.
It encouraged eligible citizens who could not take part in the earlier exercise to take advantage of the second window in order to give them the opportunity of voting in the impending election.
