Court JAILS 2 to 10 years for fueling Konkomba, Chokosi conflict
Two persons have been jailed to a total of ten years for their roles in the Konkomba, Chokosi conflict in the North East Region by a Tamale High Court presided over Justice Richard Kogyapwa.
The two, Lac Nanyom and Nablek Dzakpaki were charged with possession of firearms without lawful excuse and possession of ammunition without lawful excuse and pleaded guilty to the charges.
They were subsequently slapped with a five-year jail term each to serve as a deterrent to others.
Faruk Fuseini, Ngmalan Ntsuola, Nagoli Tibulingma, Illiasu Awutor and Imoro Mohammed who pleaded not guilty, have been remanded into prison custody to reappear on June 7, 2019.
Presenting the facts of the case, the Regional State Attorney Mr. Salia Abdul Quddus revealed that all the suspects including; , Lac Nanyom, Nablek Dzakpaki, Faruk Fuseini, Ngmalan Ntsuola, Nagoli Tibulingma, Illiasu Awutor and Imoro Mohammed were arrested at Yeteli village near Chreponi on Tuesday, May 21, 2019 by a Police/Military patrol team.,
He said the Patrol team was deployed to the village upon intelligence received that a house had been set ablaze.
Upon their arrest, a quantity of ammunition was retrieved from them.
The accused persons could not produce any license permitting them to possess the guns and ammunition.
They were therefore charged and arraigned before the High Court
