Ayawaso East MCE dispels allegations of neglect by constituents
The Municipal Chief Executive of the Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly, Hajia Salma Adams Kuta, has dispelled allegations of neglect from a section of constituents with regards to the distribution of food and other relief items in the municipality.
According to her, no such incident of neglect has taken place in the Assembly neither has her outfit intentionally abandoned some persons while distributing food others in the municipality.
This follows allegations from some residents in the municipality after GhanaWeb visited to file a report on the Nima gutter.
The residents who seemed unenthused about the alleged happenings told GhanaWeb that, “sometimes they come to share food to people here but they never give us. They mostly park the truck around that end (pointing to her far right) and distribute food to some people over there but I don’t know whether we’re not from their religious denomination they don’t give us…This happened throughout the lockdown.”
But Hajia Salma Adams Kuta told GhanaWeb in an exclusive interview, that such allegations do not represent the facts on the ground.
She said most of the food distributions that were undertaken were done by some private organisations who did so per their own conditions.
With regards to government’s distribution during the period of lockdown, she indicated that the Assembly was given a quota of about 2000 and they did so devoid of any cases of unfairness and favouritism.
However, some other relief items from government are yet to be distributed to residents and the vulnerable in her jurisdiction.
“…Vans sharing food maybe they’re not from the assembly, maybe they’re from NGOs or the private sector. With the government one, we cooked some food some time ago and we stopped that. It was a quota which was given to us about 2000. We shared that one and we’re done with it. Maybe the one they’re talking about is not the government one, it’s not from the Assembly actually the government one we’re now about to share them…”
