Angry youth descend on policemen; injure two at Paboase
Two policeman have been injured after being attacked by some irate youth at Paboase, in the Western Region who were demonstrating against a local mining company in the area.
According to the police who confirmed the unfortunate incident to MyNewsGh.com, at about 06:30 am on Friday March 15, 2019, the Divisional Police Command received information that some youth of Paboase, a notable mining community had blocked the main road between Chirano and Ntetreso preventing the mine workers from going to work.
The Divisional Commander therefore mobilised six personnel from his division to go and convince them to remove the barricade and allow free flow of vehicles.
In the process two policemen identified as General Sergeant Yankey and Lance Corporal Baba Ali sustained serious injuries and the back screen of the police Nissan Navara vehicle smashed.
The injured personnel were immediately taken to Wiawso Government hospital for treatment while the police have promised to arrest the perpetrators behind the act.
Meanwhile, MyNewsGh.com has gathered that the police have succeeded in getting the road cleared.
When the team arrived the youth rather turned against the police and started pelting stones at the unprovoked cops.
