Akufo-Addo presents C.I. for North East, Savannah regions today

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will today, 12 February 2019 present the Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) for the newly-created North East and Savannah regions to give them legal backing.

Four other regions, namely Western North, Ahafo, Bono East and Oti will also get their C.I.’s in the course of the week.

This comes despite agitations from some of the traditional authorities in the new regions.

In the proposed Bono East region, the chiefs and people of Nkoranza are kicking against what they suspect will be the selection of Techiman as the capital city.

Also, a pressure group in Walewale in the North East region is making a strong case for that area to be made the capital.

Despite these pressures, the Deputy Minister of Regional Reorganisation Mr Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah has told Class News the event will take place as scheduled.

He said the ministry has no influence in the selection of the capitals.
