A 23-year-old driver, Amobilah Richard, popularly known as “Sim 1,” has been sentenced by the Nsuta Circuit Court in the Ashanti Region for stealing money and drinks from the home of a fellow driver.
Richard was reportedly found guilty of stealing GH¢5,100, a bottle of Kalypo drink and three cans of malt belonging to another driver, identified as Opoku Amankwah.
The court sentenced the young driver to a fine of GH¢3,600. In default of paying the fine, he will serve two years in prison.
According to the details of the case, Richard and the complainant, Opoku Amankwah, are both drivers. The incident reportedly occurred at the residence of the complainant, where Richard allegedly took the money and drinks.
The theft of the GH¢5,100 constituted the major part of the items reportedly taken, while the Kalypo drink and three cans of malt were also listed among the stolen property.
The case was subsequently brought before the Nsuta Circuit Court, where the circumstances surrounding the alleged theft were considered.
Following the court proceedings, Richard was sentenced to pay the GH¢3,600 fine. The court further ordered that he would serve a two-year custodial sentence if he failed to pay the amount.
