Man hacks wife for threatening divorce
A middle-aged woman is battling for her life after her estranged husband inflicted cutlass wounds on her for threatening to end their marriage.
According to reports, the man committed the dastardly act because he could not stand the pressure of their 27-year-old marriage coming to an end.
This unfortunate incident happened at Pinihin, a farming community in the Nkoranza North District of the Bono East region
Son of the victim, Stephen Owusu in an interview on Adom FM’s morning show, Dwaso Nsem said the conduct of his stepfather was borne out of a prolonged domestic misunderstanding.
He explained that his mother who had moved from her marital home after 27 years of marriage insisted the suspect performs the necessary customary rites as a precondition for her return.
The cohabitation which has produced four children, Stephen explained, was having a negative toll on his mother.
But, the suspect who had suffered mild stroke accused his wife of neglect and decided to take his pound of flesh.
“My stepfather monitored our house to ensure my mother was alone, pounced on her in the kitchen and started hacking her,” Stephen said.
But for the intervention of neighbours who rushed to the scene, he said his mother would have been hacked to death.
“My mother was found unconscious by neighbours in a pool of blood. She sustained deep machete wounds on her body and a deep gash to the head before being rushed to the hospital,” he bemoaned.
His father, Stephen Owusu added, was arrested after residents lodged a complaint to the police.
