Special Assistant to the Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary  Affairs, Hon Maxwell Ofosu Boakye, has described the Member of Parliament for Asawasi as the most disgraceful legislator from the Ashanti Region.

According to him, Hon Muntaka Mubarak, due to his corruptible and selfish interest, disappointed people from the region, during his tenure as the Minister for Youth and Sports.

“Muntaka was sacked as  the Sports Minister following his involvement in corruptible practices with a tag as a “Pampers and Chinchinga minister” He said.

Addressing a section of the media, the Special Assistant, who is the Presiding Member for Suame Municipal Assembly (SMA),  disclosed that Hon Muntaka is one of the legislators, who perform badly on the floor of Parliament.

” Apart from telling the house that members can not form a quorum and spearheading ‘bloody widow’ claim, Muntaka doesn’t perform on the floor of Parliament.” Hon Ofosu Boakye disclosed.

According to him, Hon Muntaka should be submissive and learn from the experienced legislators like Hon Haruna Iddrisu, Minority Leader, Hon Alban Bagbin, Former Majority Leader and  Hon Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, current Majority Leader and Minister for Parliamentary Affairs.

Hon Ofosu Boakye disclosed that Former President John Dramani Mahama, after realizing the shaky nature of Hon Muntaka’s seat deliberately diverted all resources to construct roads in the Asawasi constituency to retain the seat.

This, he said, doesn’t mean other MPs in Kumasi had ‘below-the-belt’ performance as claimed by Hon Muntaka hence parading himself as the chief lobbyist, adding Hon Muntaka should shut up and ‘ enjoy his roads’.

“NDC and Former President Mahama knew only Asawasi Constituency gives them more votes in the Kumasi Metropolis and deliberately constructed only roads in the area, neglecting other constituencies in Kumasi”.He said.

Hon Ofosu Boakye described it as unfortunate for the Asawasi MP to tag other MPs in Kumasi as lazy legislators who only lord over his constituents.

He said Former President Mahama apart from Asawasi constituency failed to give the region a facelift in terms of road construction.

According to him, Former President John Agyekum Kufuor constructed interchanges at Asafo, Asokwa and Sofoline adding the Mills/Mahama administration failed to commence a single interchange in Ashanti Region during it’s eight years rule.

Hon Ofosu Boakye commended Nana Addo administration for the commencement of road construction in Kumasi and the country as a whole.

He mentioned Abrepo Junction to Atafua, Akoko Specs to Abusuakruwa, Abrepo Junction to Adoato, Ohwimase –  Denchemuoso, Nzemaa- Kromaose and Nzemaa- Akyeremade as some of the roads being tackled by government.

Hon Ofosu Boakye noted government has awarded major roads in the Suame constituency to Kofi Job Construction Company, adding about 70 percent of the roads will be asphalted .

“The constructor is on site with equipments as well as the necessary materials to commence the work to give a facelift to Suame” He disclosed.
