The Black Stars of Ghana has drawn goalless with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa this afternoon at the Police Academy Park in Dubai in a friendly match ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament in Egypt.

The friendly which forms part of a pre-tournament arrangement aimed at helping the two sides adequately prepare for the 2019 AFCON tournament could not produce any goals even though both coaches fielded a strong starting side on the day.

An impressive first half from the Black Stars could not materialize after they failed to capitalize on two clear cut goal scoring opportunities. The Bafana Bafana who had their fair share of possession could not threaten their opponent and also had to settle for the goalless draw after the first 45 minutes.

Despite continuing their dominance in the second half, Coach Kwesi Appiah’s men could not equalize. Several changes from both sides to try and get on the score sheet was not enough as the game eventually ended 0-0 after the 90 minutes.

Ghana will spend on more week in Dubai to wrap up the pre-tournament training tour before moving to Egypt on Thursday, June 20, 2019, in anticipation to the start of the AFCON.

They have been pitted in Group F where they will face the likes of Benin, Guinea Bissau, and defending champions Cameroon. The tournament will start on June 21 but the team will have to wait until June 25 before opening their Group with a match against Benin.
