Four Ghanaian nationals have been arraigned before the High Court in Accra over allegations linked to an attempted export of a large consignment of cocaine valued at about €225 million.
The accused persons are facing charges connected to an alleged plan to export the narcotic substance from Ghana. The case has attracted attention because of the reported value of the consignment and its international dimension.
According to reports on the case, the four accused are Desmond Koranteng Curiel, also known as Paul Kweku Yeboah or “Biggs”; Musah Attah, also known as “Kromo”; Kweku Otchere; and Jessica Hartog.
They were reportedly charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and the alleged unlawful exportation of narcotic drugs.
The prosecution’s case is connected to the seizure of a consignment in France that was reportedly traced to Ghana. French authorities reportedly intercepted close to four tonnes of cocaine at the port of Dunkirk, prompting investigations involving authorities in both countries.
Following the development, Ghanaian authorities began investigations into the circumstances surrounding the alleged shipment and subsequently arrested the four individuals.
The court has reportedly remanded the accused persons for four weeks as investigations continue. They are expected to return to court on October 13, 2026.
Another individual, Dutch national Jos Leijdekkers, also known as “Bolle Jos”, has reportedly been mentioned in connection with the investigation. He is said to remain wanted in relation to the case.
The case highlights the international nature of the investigation, with Ghanaian authorities working with their counterparts in France as efforts continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged shipment.
The accused persons have not been convicted of the offences brought against them. They are entitled to the presumption of innocence unless and until a competent court determines otherwise.
The prosecution will be expected to present evidence in support of the charges as the case progresses, while the accused persons will have the opportunity to respond through their legal representatives.
Further proceedings are expected when the matter returns to court, with investigators continuing efforts to establish the full circumstances surrounding the alleged international narcotics case.
