CCTV Footage Shows Events Before Ghanaian Teenager Javits Frimpong Was Shot Dead in New York

Newly surfaced CCTV footage has reportedly revealed events leading up to the fatal shooting of 15-year-old Ghanaian teenager Javits Frimpong in the Bronx, New York.

The footage, which has drawn renewed attention to the killing, reportedly captures the teenager running across a street while being pursued by an individual dressed in black clothing and wearing a face covering.

According to reports, the surveillance recording shows Javits, who was wearing red, running as the masked individual follows him. The pursuer is later seen stopping and turning back, while other footage reportedly shows two additional teenagers across the street moving in the direction of the victim.

The recordings are said to have captured some of the events at approximately 8:01 a.m. on Thursday, October 29, 2026. Javits was later shot in the abdomen shortly before 9:30 a.m. while reportedly on his way to school.

The teenager was rushed to hospital after the shooting but later died from his injuries, leaving his family and members of the Ghanaian community in mourning.

Javits had moved from Ghana to the United States approximately a year before his death to join his father, Thomas Frimpong. His father has since spoken publicly about the tragedy, expressing grief over the loss of his son and calling for answers.

Thomas has also raised concerns about possible bullying at his son’s school. He reportedly said the school principal had informed him that two students were suspended days before the shooting over allegations of bullying.

However, authorities have not confirmed that the alleged bullying was connected to the killing. The circumstances surrounding the shooting and the possible motive remain under investigation.

Police are reportedly reviewing CCTV recordings as part of efforts to identify and locate those involved. The footage may provide investigators with information about the movements of the individuals seen around the teenager before the shooting.

No arrests had been reported in the accounts reviewed, while the investigation continued.

The emergence of the surveillance footage has added another dimension to the case, particularly as the victim’s family seeks clarity about what happened during the final moments before his death.

The incident has also renewed concerns about the safety of young people, including students travelling to school, and the need for schools to take reports of bullying and threats seriously.

Although the footage reportedly shows a pursuit before the shooting, it does not independently establish the identities of those involved or explain why Javits was targeted.

Investigators are expected to examine the available recordings alongside witness accounts and other evidence to establish the sequence of events and determine who was responsible.

For the Frimpong family, the search for answers continues as they mourn a teenager whose life was cut short in a violent incident in New York.
