EC office burgled; laptop, TV set stolen
Two persons have been arrested in connection with a burglary at the Afigya Kwabre South District office of the Election Commission (EC) in the Ashanti Region. They have been identified as Eric Oteng Asamoah, 29, and Samuel Nti, 18. Both have been detained and are assisting police with investigations.
It follows a formal complaint made by one of the EC staff to the police at the Kodie District on June 6, 2020, the Dailymailgh.com can report. The suspects reportedly broke into the back wooden door of the IT office with an implement and made away with two laptop computer, a 41 inch black quality flat screen TV, and a voltage protector.
The incident comes after the EC had conducted a pilot voter registration exercise that week. The suspects and the complainant have since written their statements while investigations continues, police said.
