Chelsea reportedly set to offer £77M for Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen in the summer
English Premier League side, Chelsea, are reportedly ready to make a bid for Victor Osimhen ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Nigerian international has been on the radar of top European clubs since leading Napoli to the Scudetto in the 2022/23 season.
Despite failing to replicate last season’s performance in the Serie A this campaign, he is still one of the most valuable players in Europe.
According to a report by Il Mattino, as per the Chelsea Chronicle, the Blues are said to be preparing an offer of £77 million for Osimhen as they look to solve their goal-scoring problem.
The Blues are hoping to beat off competition from Premier League rivals, Arsenal and Manchester United, as well as reported interest from French Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint-Germain.
Osimhen is rated as one of the best strikers in Europe’s top five leagues, alongside Erling Haaland and Kylian Mbappe.
The Nigerian international recently signed a new contract extension with the Parthenopeans, and had his release clause increased to chase away from potential suitors.
Reports claimed that Osimhen’s release clause is set in the region of €120 million to €130mil – a fee which is way beyond what Chelsea are offering for the striker.
This obstacle could result in the Blues dropping out of the race to sign the Nigerian striker in the summer.
