Truck driver in Suhum accident arrested
Information reaching the desk of My News Ghana indicates that the truck driver who caused the accident which took the lives of about 14 people and has injured over 80 has been arrested.
The 32-year-old truck driver identified as Baguyan Saani, ran from the scene as soon he saw the magnitude of mayhem he had caused.
In an interview with Joy FM monitored by My News Ghana, District Police Commander of Suhum, Chief Superintendent John Owusu, confirmed the arrest saying that the suspect was aiding with investigations into the accident.
The accident which occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, 15th September 2020 saw about 19 passengers been rushed to the Nsawam Government Hospital with one being referred to the Koforidua Regional Hospital because his case was critical.
Medical Superintendent of the Suhum Hospital, Dr. Kofi Ablorh, giving details of the figures of the accident revealed that 6 of the deceased and 7 males.
He said that 22 people were rushed to the uhum Government hospital. 2 of them being children under 5 and 18 others with minor injuries.
National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) have also revealed that one of the deceased is a 9-year-old child.
