Three arrested at Asokore Mampong for possessing copy of voters register

Three persons have been picked up by police at Asokore Mampong in the Ashanti Region after a copy of the voters register was discovered in their possession during the ongoing District Assembly and Unit Committee Elections.

The arrest was made at the Galilee Church B polling Station in the Sawaba – Adenyase Electoral area.

The three have been taken to the Asokore Mampong Police station for interrogation.

An agent of one the aspirants witnessed the incident recalled to Citi News that the district police commander was on his rounds when “he realised there was a booklet that contained the list of the voters. Two students were holding it.”

“They were just holding it making sure that anybody who comes, they will try to convince the person to vote for their aspirant and that is Alhaji Anyaas,” he narrated.

“They asked them and they couldn’t identify and clarify themselves so whilst they were sending them one man  [who was also arrested] also came saying he gave them that job,” the witness added.
