Police arrest two suspected armed robbers after GOIL station attack at Nsawam Kwafokrom
The police have arrested two suspected armed robbers in connection with an attack on a GOIL fuel station at Nsawam Kwafokrom.
The suspects have been identified as Amos Boame and Collins Adjei. They were reportedly arrested following the robbery incident, which occurred on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
The police have also identified another suspect, known only as Ashivie, who is currently on the run. According to the Police Command, efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him over his alleged involvement in the robbery.
Several items believed to have been used during the operation were reportedly retrieved from the two arrested suspects.
Among the exhibits recovered are an Alder Tupal pump-action gun, bearing serial number 245A-12944, an electronic shocker, a cutlass and a bulletproof vest.
The Police Command said the robbery resulted in two people being shot during the incident. The victims were identified as a security officer and a pump attendant who had reportedly taken refuge in an office within the filling station.
The suspects allegedly made away with GH¢13,460 in cash, along with assorted provisions. The value of the provisions has not yet been determined.
Following the robbery, police conducted an inspection of the crime scene and reportedly recovered 19 spent cartridges and one live round of ammunition.
The recovery of the weapons and other items is expected to form part of the evidence being used in the ongoing investigation.
The arrest of Amos Boame and Collins Adjei represents a significant development in the investigation, while the police continue their efforts to locate the third suspect, Ashivie.
Authorities are expected to conduct further investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the robbery and the alleged roles of the suspects.
The two arrested individuals remain suspects at this stage, and their alleged involvement in the offence will be subject to due process.
The police have also urged members of the public with information about the whereabouts of the suspect who is still at large to assist the authorities.
