PHOTOS: The eating competition that got Ghanaians talking

Every eating contest has its own set of regulations. The most popular eating competition regulation is to consume a given amount of food in a specified length of time. Others get four or five people on board and give them the same amount of food to see who can eat it all before the time runs out.

This eating battle, however, has a separate set of rules. They only offer you six balls of kenkey and a small fish. Each ball of kenkey can only be eaten twice, according to the rule. You can’t eat more than twice, therefore if you can’t finish your first ball of kenkey, you won’t be able to finish the second. You’ve simply dropped out of the competition.

Watching the video carefully, you can see a man holding a ball of kenkey trying to make it small so that he can divide it into two and swallow it. The man was successful with the first ball of kenkey but he really struggled to swallow it. This man was seen sweating profusely as if he has just ended a 100m race. One cannot tell whether he was able to finish all the six balls of kenkey but some Ghanaians said that this is dangerous.

If they were to be in the man’s shoes, they won’t have tried to eat such a big ball of kenkey twice. This is because it can choke the throat and cause harm to them. Others were just laughing at the man that it is only in Ghana and Africa that a man will agree to such a ‘foolish’ rule because of food and fame.

So, people are asking ooo, “Enti nipa bibini baa wiase bɛyɛɛ dɛn?.”
