One dead in tidal accident
The Ankaful-Saltpond township in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central region has been thrown into a state of mourning following a canoe accident which has left one person dead.
The canoe which had some 22 fisher folks on board capsized some 300 meters from the Ankaful shore on returning from the day’s fishing expedition.
The accident is attributed to a rise in the tide coupled with strong tidal waves.
One person, Kwabena Djan, 21, has since been confirmed dead
with the body having been deposited at the Saltpond Government Hospital.
The rest have been successfully rescued.
