NDC aspiring treasurer calls for financial discipline among party executives

The aspiring Ashanti Regional treasurer for National Democratic Congress NDC Mr Karikari Poku has appealed to the  leadership of the party to heightened the level of financial discipline and accountability among executives at all levels.
Effective mechanisms he advised should be instituted to ensure that monies earmarked for party activities are disbursed to the appropriate quarters within the party and utilized for the intended purpose, topping up that ” it should be done with a high level of transparency.
Speaking exclusively to thepressradio.com, Mr. Poku Karikari who is the former NDC vice chairman for Bantama constituency continued that attempts by the party leadership to consider his clarion call and set in motion pragmatic measures in the daily running of the administrative work of the party will make NDC more vibrant and will eventually make a headway.
Mr Poku Karikari premised his call on the reality that money is the driving force of every political party.
“Money must go where it is supposed to go, used for what it is intended for and should be accounted for at all levels” he stated.
Mr Karikari who expressed his readiness to help the party when voted for again called on the leadership to beef up their relationship with the grassroot members by ensuring that the administration of the party in every region is brought to the door steps of the later ( grassroot members) both at the district and polling station level.
“Party officials should be assigned to monitor party activities at these areas and report to the appropriate executives on the state of affairs” he indicated.
When questioned on why he is contesting for the position as the regional treasurer, he noted that he has what it takes to position and handle the financial affairs of the party at the regional level.
 Mr Karikari is a Chartered Management Consultant, Chartered Public Administrator, a Project Consultant, has an MBA (Accounting Option) and Bsc Administration (Acounting Option).
 He was a Tein member at the University of Education Winneba -kumasi campus, former ward chairman for Bantama constituency.
He is currently the Diocesan accountant for Methodist church- Kumasi diocese and the national treasurer for the Association of Methodist Men’s Fellowship.
