Manhole swallows boy, 7, at Pakyi
A seven-year-old boy died after falling into a manhole that was under construction and full of water, Dailymailgh.com can report.
The incident happened on April 24, 2020 at about 1pm when the child, identified as Divine Isaac, was playing with his friends close to his house in Pakyi #2, in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region.
“He was playing around and suddenly fell into the manhole,” a witnesses told Dailymailgh.com.
“Before he fell, we heard a loud noise; he had disappeared instantly when we got closer to the manhole which is about 23-26 feet,” another witness said.
The victim was rescued minutes later and rushed to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi, but was declared dead by medics shortly.
Residents berated the developers for not properly covering the hole, and making the situation more dangerous by disguising it.
Police at Pakyi have begun investigations into the matter.
