Japekrom Shooting: Chief calls for calm
The Omanhene of Japekrom in the Jaman South District of the Brong Ahafo Region, Nana Atwiri Kontontwea I, has called for calm in the area following the killing of a 42-year old native of the area called Wofa Sina Atta by some gunmen believed to be from rival community Drobo.
Wofa Sina was shot and killed on Wednesday, 18 October 2018 when he joined a group of people including chiefs, as part of activities marking the Munufie Festival when the shooting took place.
Addressing an angry crowd on Thursday, 18 October 2018, the Omanhene, Nana Atwiri Kontontwea I asked the people to calm down as the Police investigate the matter.
Public Relations Officer for the Brong Ahafo regional police command, Chief Inspector Augustine Kingsley Oppong who confirmed the shooting incident to Kwabena Prah Jnr (The Don) on Ghana Yensom on Accra100.5FM on Thursday, 18 October 2018 said the police has deployed more men to the area to restore peace.
