‘Father’ and ‘son’ win NPP candidacy slot
Spokesperson of Education Minister, Ekow Vincent Assafuah, has emerged victorious in the just-ended New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries.
He is now the party’s representative for the Old Tafo parliamentary seat in the upcoming general elections.
Mr. Assafuah polled some 299 votes, the highest among his other four contenders; Dr. Louise Carol Serwah Donkor, Prince Odeneho Oppong, Emmanuel Obeng, Lord Inusah Lansah, and Archibald Acquah, who polled 133, 90, 44, 27 and 0 votes respectively.
His direct boss, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh; the Education Minister, was acclaimed by delegates, as the Parliamentary Candidate for Manhyia South Constituency.
He was endorsed by acclamation as the only candidate who picked up nomination forms in the race.
Meanwhile, NPP delegates in some 101 constituencies voted today in the party’s primaries to elect parliamentary representatives for the upcoming general elections.
