Contractors demonstrate at Roads ministry over unpaid jobs
Aggrieved government contractors have stormed the premises of the ministry of Roads and Highways demanding payment of unpaid arrears.
The development occurred despite an ongoing meeting between their leadership and the minister of roads and highways and his chief directors.
The demonstration comes months after the minister assured them that government will settle the arrears owed them after they have executed their contracts.
About 70 contractors are reported to be at the premises of the ministry clad in red hand and head bands.
One of the contractors told Starr News’ Sefanam Agbogbli “from 2016 till date and we have not been paid. We are here to demand payment and see how they can be able to pay us.”
Another contractor lamented that his properties have been confiscated, forcing him to lay off workers.
The group added that they are at the premises to entertain themselves as they await good News.
Starr News sighted two police pickups that are fully loaded with police officers clad in full body armor stationed at the ministry.
