Body of 14-year-old boy found at Gomoa Mankoadze beach
One more body has been washed ashore at Gomoa Mankoadze, bringing the number of children who drowned on Sunday at Apam beach to 13.
The police identified the body of the 14-year old John Arthur in a decomposition state.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Irene Oppong, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, said on Thursday, March 11 at about 07:00 hours the police received information that another body had been found.
The Medical doctor of St Luke Catholic Hospital asked the bereaved family to go ahead and bury the body, DSP Oppong said.
On Sunday, at about 0840 hours, Mr Kwame Akono and Mr Justice Mensah reported to the police that their nephew, Joshua Annor, aged 15, went to the beach to play football with some other children, but later got drowned.
DSP Oppong said the police quickly proceeded to the scene with the Acting District Chief Executive of Gomoa West, Officials of NADMO and leaders of the fishing community and a search was conducted.
She said, two boys Dadzie and Appretsie were rescued but 12 others were found dead on Monday between the hours of 0700, 1000 and 1400.
