WATCH| LilWin Breaks Down While Recounting Challenges With Nigerian Actors During Movie Shoot

Ghanaian actor and filmmaker Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has reportedly become emotional while recounting challenges he encountered during the production of his upcoming movie, A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu).
The actor described difficulties involving some Nigerian stars featured in the project, explaining that the production faced unexpected complications after filming had already begun at Nzulezu in Ghana’s Western Region.
Nzulezu is a community widely known for its houses built on stilts over water, making boat transportation an important part of accessing the settlement. Although the location offers a distinctive setting for filmmaking, the logistics involved in reaching the community can present challenges for cast and crew members.
According to LilWin’s account, the difficulties emerged after three days of filming, when some of the Nigerian actors reportedly expressed reluctance to return to the location or continue travelling by boat to the community.
The filmmaker said the actors wanted the production to be moved to another location. However, the proposed change presented a challenge because the movie’s storyline had been developed around Nzulezu.
Relocating the production could therefore have affected the original concept and the setting required to tell the story as intended.
LilWin reportedly made efforts to address the situation by speaking to the actors individually in an attempt to persuade them to continue with the production. His emotional account offered a glimpse into the pressures that can arise when filmmakers work with large casts in locations with difficult transport arrangements.
The production brings together actors from Ghana and Nigeria, reflecting the cross-border collaborations that have become part of the West African film industry. Such projects can create opportunities for cultural exchange, wider audiences and partnerships between filmmakers from both countries.
However, coordinating actors, transport, schedules and filming locations can become complicated when unexpected difficulties arise. Productions in remote communities may also require additional planning to ensure that cast and crew members can travel safely and work according to schedule.
A Journey to Africa (Nzulezu) features several established Nollywood actors, including Kanayo O. Kanayo, Patience Ozokwo, Mike Ezuruonye, Charles Awurum, Zubby Michael and Destiny Etiko.
The involvement of the Nigerian stars has drawn attention to the project, which places a Ghanaian community with a distinctive cultural and architectural identity at the centre of its story.
LilWin’s account has also brought attention to the less visible challenges filmmakers face behind the scenes. While audiences often see the finished production, filming can involve logistical setbacks, disagreements over arrangements and the pressure of keeping a project on schedule.
It remains unclear whether the reported difficulties affected the overall filming schedule or whether the production has been completed. Details concerning the movie’s release date have also not been confirmed in the information available.
