VIDEO: Lamine Yamal’s Facial Expression After Harry Kane Wins Ballon d’Or Sparks Debate
Barcelona star Lamine Yamal has attracted attention on social media following his reaction to Harry Kane’s victory at the 2026 men’s Ballon d’Or ceremony in London.
Kane, the Bayern Munich and England striker, was named the winner of football’s prestigious individual award on October 26, 2026, finishing ahead of Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappé and Yamal, who placed third in the final rankings.
A video circulating online captured Yamal’s expression as Kane was announced as the winner. While the audience applauded the England captain, the Barcelona winger appeared serious and did not immediately join the celebration, prompting football fans to discuss the moment.
The footage quickly attracted attention, with some social media users interpreting Yamal’s reaction as disappointment at missing out on the main award. However, his facial expression alone does not establish what he was feeling, and he had not publicly explained his reaction in the reports available.
Yamal had been among the leading contenders for the award following another impressive campaign with Barcelona. His performances had placed him among the most talked-about young players in world football, raising expectations about his chances of winning the honour.
Despite missing out on the men’s Ballon d’Or, the Spanish international received recognition at the ceremony by winning the Men’s Young Talent of the Year award. The accolade acknowledged his performances and continued development at the highest level of the game.
Kane’s victory marked a major milestone in his career. The Bayern Munich striker became the first Englishman to win the men’s Ballon d’Or since Michael Owen claimed the award in 2001.
Kane’s prolific scoring record for club and country during the 2025/26 campaign played a significant role in his success. He also received the Men’s Striker of the Year award at the ceremony.
The Ballon d’Or results generated discussion among football supporters, particularly over the performances of the leading contenders and the voting outcome. Yamal’s reaction became another talking point, although the brief footage offered no definitive explanation of his emotions.
For Yamal, finishing third and winning the young talent award represented further recognition of his growing status in international football. At his age, he remains one of the players expected to feature prominently in future individual award discussions.
The attention surrounding the video illustrates how moments captured during major football ceremonies can quickly become topics of online debate. However, without a statement from Yamal, conclusions about his personal reaction to Kane’s victory remain speculative.
