Two persons have been picked up by the Northern Regional Police Command in connection with the gunpoint snatching of the Savannah Regional Minister’s Toyota Hilux Vehicle, MyNewsGh.com has confirmed.

The suspects according to police sources were picked up on Tuesday evening and detained by the police who are currently said to be investigating the matter which occurred on 6th of July, 2019, at about 9:00pm in Tamale

It is gathered that Mr. Sulemana Illiasu and one another were those to have been picked up by the police over the missing vehicle with registration number ER 3516-19.

According to the accounts of the suspects, on 4th of July, 2019, the Savannah Regional Minister Hon. Adam Salifu was traveling to Accra by flight for a meeting and parked his Toyota Hilux pick up with registration number ER 3516-19 at IIliasu’s house.

On 6th of July, 2019, at about 9:00pm two armed men wielding AK 47 riffles reportedly went to the house of Illiasu and took the vehicle away.

The robbers also took away the victim’s iPhone 7plus and Samsung A6plus mobile phones and cash of GH¢200.00 and took him to an unknown location where they dropped him off and went away with the vehicle.

Meanwhile, both the NPP and NDC in the area are pointing accusing fingers at each other over the missing vehicle with the ruling party insisting it could be the work of the Member of Parliament (MP) for Damongo and his assignees.

But the NDC has flatly denied the accusation and issued a five-day ultimatum to authorities of the Savannah Regional Coordinating Council to produce the vehicle or incur their wrath.
