‘They were rubbing it in my face’ – Sister Derby reflects on Medikal’s ‘betrayal’

Ghanaian singer and model Sister Derby opened up about her past relationship with rapper Medikal, shedding light on the dynamics that led to their breakup and how she handled the situation.

Reflecting on her experience in an exclusive interview with Arnold Mensah Elavanyo on Vibe in 5 monitored by MyNewsGh.com, she spoke candidly about the role of actress Fella Makafui in the relationship’s downfall, describing how Fella’s actions affected her emotionally.

Sister Derby revealed that she felt disrespected by Fella Makafui during the time she was dating Medikal.

“She was mocking me,” Sister Derby recalled, explaining how Fella would frequently post insinuating comments on social media while engaging in an affair with Medikal.

Despite the pain, Derby admitted that she chose not to retaliate or publicly confront Fella.

“I didn’t really care about their relationship, but for him, I wished him well. And of course, it was painful because they were rubbing it in my face.

“Even those times, I never said anything to her or dissed her. I accepted it,” she said.

When it came to confronting Medikal about the rumours surrounding his involvement with Fella, Derby said he continually denied any wrongdoing.

However, as the lies became harder to ignore, the relationship eventually crumbled. Fella Makafui’s presence, once a hidden affair, became public, and she openly pursued Medikal after the breakup.

Years later, following Medikal’s marriage to Fella, he reached out to Sister Derby, asking her to perform at one of his concerts.

Initially, Derby refused, citing her discomfort about being around Fella Makafui, especially given their shared history.

“I didn’t want to be in the same space as her,” she confessed.

However, Medikal reassured her that Fella would not be present, as they were reportedly going through divorce proceedings at the time.

Despite the past, Sister Derby reflected on Medikal’s character, acknowledging one particular trait she admired in him.

“He was incredibly generous,” she said, noting that his generosity was something she appreciated about him even after their relationship ended.
