Moroccan Ambassador calls on Otumfuo

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the king of Ashanti, has called on the Moroccan Ambassador to Ghana to ensure there is good relationship between the two countries to promote economic growth.
According to him, the bilateral relationship between the two countries is strong enough to foster development in areas such as education, agriculture, technology among others.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu was speaking when Mr. Mohammed Farahat, the Moroccan Ambassador in Ghana paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on Wednesday.
Recounting his relationship with the king of Morocco, His Majesty Mohammed VI, he called on the ambassador to represent the two countries well to attract investors from his country to invest in Ghana to boost economic growth.
He said Ghana is gradually embracing technology as means of transforming the economy and would expect Morocco to help in that regard since they are well advanced in the area of technology.
“I know you are doing well in the area of technology. I saw how you do your things when I visited my friend your king, and expecting you to tell him to bring that here in my country”, he said.
The Asantehene said agriculture, which is considered one of the pivot for economic transformation should be encouraged stating that Ghana is interested in partnership with their counterparts in Morocco to produce more food to feed the growing population in the two countries.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu pointed out that though Morocco has supported Ghana’s educational system by providing scholarship for Ghanaians he is looking forward to see that strengthened in other areas.
He said the people of Ashanti and Morocco could also establish cultural ties to keep the people from the two countries to understand each other, pointing out that Moroccans could visit the country to enjoy the Ghanaian hospitality.
Mr. Farahat, who expressed gratitude to His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for the audience said he will work to promote the excellent bilateral relations between Morocco and Ghana.
According to him, the visit of the king of Morocco His Majesty Mohammed VI into Ghana last year saw the launched of major multi-sectoral cooperation projects whose fruits have sprouted well and promise a better future.
He said, Morocco intends to contribute to the economic development of the Ashanti region through edifying projects in renewable energy, agri-food, affordable housing and education some of which has seen a facelift.
