Mahama to unveil full cabinet in 14 days

President John Dramani Mahama has said that his administration is making rapid progress in forming a cabinet.

He disclosed that the full list of cabinet members will be out within the next 14 days, urging supporters to exercise patience.

Speaking at a special National Muslim prayer and thanksgiving service at the National Mosque at Kanda, Accra, on January 10, the president said, “Government is being formed, ministers will be put in place, other officials will be appointed. And as I said, we will have our full cabinet in 14 days.

“And so, we will have ministers in charge. If you have any issues you consult any of the ministers and have it resolved. Exercise restraint,” he added.

His remarks come in reaction to concerns raised by the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, who condemned the president’s approach to the appointment of ministers, describing it as “tot-tot,” which means bit by bit.

The president also expressed concern over reports of undisciplined behaviours by some party supporters, including attempts to seize government properties.

He called for self-control, citing mistakes made by the NPP after their 2016 victory.

“I know that in 2017, that is what the NPP did. After we lost that election. We must not copy the mistakes that they made. I plead with our supporters, let us do things in an orderly manner,” he noted.
