Ghanaian footballer Keita reflects on humble beginnings in South Africa

Ghanaian footballer Keita has taken a trip down memory lane, reflecting on the early stages of his football career in South Africa and expressing gratitude to the people who supported him along the way.

The player revealed that his journey in South African football began in 2018 in Carolina, where he was welcomed into the home of a generous man identified as MB Tshabangu and his family.

According to Keita, that period played a significant role in shaping his career and the player he has become today.

In a heartfelt message shared on social media, the Ghanaian footballer explained that the story behind the name “Keita” and the emergence of the footballer he is today can be traced to his time at Passion FC in Carolina.

“It all began in 2018 in Carolina, when a generous man called MB Tshabangu and his family welcomed me into their home,” he wrote.

Keita also expressed his appreciation to the people of the Silobela community, whom he credited for helping raise and support him during an important stage of his development.

He said he would remain forever indebted to the people of the community for the role they played in helping him become the person and footballer he is today.

The Ghanaian player also remembered the contribution of Passion FC CEO Mr Lucas Mudau and the club’s supporters, whom he described as an important part of his journey.

His message highlights the important role grassroots football clubs and communities can play in the development of players, particularly those who move to another country in pursuit of football opportunities.

For Keita, his time at Passion FC was apparently more than just a period of playing football. It provided him with an environment where he could develop his talent while receiving support from people who believed in him.

The footballer’s reflections also demonstrate his appreciation for those who helped him before he became established in South African football.

As he continues his career in South Africa, Keita has made it clear that he has not forgotten the people and club that contributed to his early development.

He concluded his tribute by acknowledging the Silobela community, Passion FC, its leadership and supporters for being part of the journey that has helped shape his football career.
