Ejura shooting: Three victims receive GH¢1.2m compensation

The Interior Ministry has implemented recommendations made by the three inter-ministerial fact-finding committee that investigated the infamous shooting incident at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

The Chief Director of the Ministry of the Interior, Mrs. Adelaide Anno-Kumi, on Wednesday, February 15, 2023 handed over a compensation package of Gh¢1,218,897 to three victims who survived stray bullets during the incident.

The three victims, Awal Mesbawu, 17, received Gh¢ 678,519.00, Louis Ayikpa, 22, got Gh¢ 347, 953.00, and Nazif Nuhu,31, was also handed an amount of Gh¢ 192,425.00.

The presentation was in fulfilment of the recommendations by the three-member ministerial committee that investigated the disturbances at Ejura in the Ashanti Region.

Presenting the monies at a short event held at Ejura Palace on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, the Chief Director at the Ministry of Interior, Adelaide Annor-Kumi, who represented her boss Ambrose Dery, the interior minister said the three victims were compensated according to the degree of damage caused to them.

She admonished youth in Ejura Sekyere Odumasi municipality and its environs to eschew violent activities that could endanger their lives.

 

 

Chief of Ejura Traditional Area Barima Osei Hwedie II commended the government for the swift intervention.

He hailed President Akuffo Addo, the vice president, and Dr Mahamadu Bawumia for prioritizing the welfare of Ejura.

The spokesperson of the Chief Imam Sheikh Arimiyaw Shaibu also called on the youth in the area to obey simple commands of their parents and persons in higher authority in the area.
