Asante Kotoko launches internal probe after Justice Blay’s explosive allegations

Asante Kotoko have opened an internal investigation following controversial claims made by former midfielder Justice Blay, who accused some ex-teammates of smoking and engaging in inappropriate personal conduct, including claims of girlfriend snatching.

Blay, who recently parted ways with the club by mutual consent ahead of the new football season, made the remarks during an interview on Kumasi-based Pure FM.

He alleged that former Kotoko striker Kwame Opoku secretly had a relationship with his then-girlfriend after being introduced to her.

Blay also suggested that some players engaged in smoking and excessive drinking during their time together at the club.

Reacting to the development, Asante Kotoko’s Communications Director, Sarfo Duku, told Luv FM that the club was disappointed by the nature of the remarks, especially coming from a player who once enjoyed a respected role in the team.

“Justice Blay’s comment is very unfortunate; it was the least expected of him. As a club, we are looking at the whole issue, we are investigating it, and we may come out officially at the appropriate time,” he stated.

In the wake of the backlash, Blay has released a public apology, expressing regret for his comments and the impact they may have had on his former teammates and the club.
