60-year-old man dies after falling from bridge in Koforidua

A 60-year-old man died after falling from a bridge at Koforidua – Anlo Town a suburb in New Juaben South Municipality of the Eastern Region.

The incident occurred Sunday afternoon.

According to the Assembly Member for Anlo Town South Benard Acheampong the deceased, Kofi Alato, was seated on the bridge over Nsukwao River but accidentally fell off backward and crashed into the main drain.

He was pronounced dead upon arrival at the Eastern Regional Hospital.

“According to the people around, the man was seated on the bridge and skid backward into the Nsukwao stream.

I believe he lost his balance and fell into the stream. We are at the Regional hospital now. The doctor who just attended to him has confirmed him dead” Bernard Acheampong Assembly Member Anlo Town South explained.

The deceased left behind a wife and three children.

Some residents in Anlo Town Community mostly seat on the Wall of the bridge for viewing pleasure and relaxation. It is not yet known if this is the first incident.
