Zimbabwe ‘ghost man’ arrested for burglary

27-year-old Norman Chagwiza used ghost suit to scare potential victims

A suspected burglar who dressed like a ‘ghost’ to frighten his victims and rob them has been arrested.

27-year-old Norman Chagwiza from Zimbabwe’s Gutu district in the Masvingo Province would dress up in a ‘ghost suit’ and frighten his -victims who would run away leaving him to steal undisturbed.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the arrest today saying investigations are still under way. Information gathered so far however revealed that Chagwiza had robbed more than two homesteads using the same modus operandi.

“He would pretend to be a ghost and frighten people, when the people run away, he would help himself to their belongings.

“He stole a ladder at a certain homestead, then in another incident, he locked the door from outside while trying to steal solar panels, but the owner of the house broke the door and ran after him and he was caught,” Nyathi said.
