We’re handing over Kejetia stores to NPP members because they’re Ghanaians too – Wontumi

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako otherwise known as Chairman Wontumi has stated emphatically he sees nothing wrong if NPP members are demanding part of Kejetia stores. In his opinion, they are as Ghanaian as anybody else, warning the Mayor of Kumasi to desist from peddling falsehood.

Elected assembly members of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) are set to petition the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and President Nana Addo Akufo-Addo over the Ashanti regional executives of the ruling NPP’s continues interference in operations of the Assembly.

According to KMA, the leadership of the party for some time now have been fighting the mayor for various contracts despite lack of expertise and resources to execute such jobs.

Chairman Wontumi commenting on the issue on Abusua Nkommo hosted by Kwame Adinkra and monitored by MyNewsGh.com said NPP members are also Ghanaians to benefit from development in the region as well as the country.

According to Chairman Wontumi, executives of the NPP in Ashanti Region are not demanding Kejetia stores but he sees nothing wrong if they demand some of the stores saying NPP members are also Ghanaians.

“Kwame, NPP Ashanti Regional Executives are for development and the betterment of the region and Kumasi. We are not demanding stores as the KMA Mayor Osei Assibey and his assembly members are saying. Even if we are demanding some of the stores for NPP members, Kwame are they not Ghanaians?” he said.

Interference

Bernard Antwi Boasiako (Wontumi) dismissed reports they are interfering in the operations of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.

According to Wontumi, the allegation raised by the Mayor of Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA), Osei Assibey and the Presiding Member Abraham Boadi are baseless.

“Osei Assibey wouldn’t have been the mayor of Kumasi if NPP didn’t win the 2016 elections. He is Mayor because NPP is in power. Is he above advice or don’t we have the power to advise him? Kumasi is the stronghold of NPP and the little mistake we will do can affect the party” he said.

He revealed that NPP regional executives in the Ashanti Region have not plotted anything bad against the KMA boss.
